"Josie" $1500 Weve been working in driving with her as well recently 10 yr old Molly mule
OK Look; going to be blunt here: Several people have seen this little mule here at the farm, and I guess now think she has only 3 legs or something. This mule is FINE! We did a video and took pictures today, July 27th, 2012 to show how SHE IS NOW. Yes, my buddy Lindsey Goode does the mules usually. Josies' one fault is she really doesnt ride well by herself(even if pulled out of the pasture away from her friends and ridden only in the ring) BUT, she can do it, as seen by the video. We didnt lunge her, we didnt do anything, but the girl knows how to ride. Just about anyone can ride her on the trails with a group of horses on a trail ride. But you need a little knowledge about riding to do the by-herself from the barn thing. Jessie in the video had never even ridden a mule before, and this was Josies 1st time in the noavel headstall...
Heres the scoop: Yes, we had her last year. yes, we sold her for a lot more money. The lady that bought her only had one other horse. Her gelding and Josie became rather attached. Then her owner moved, and she came back to the farm. She sat for 6 months here at the farm, then when I was hurt and dropped prices on stock around here I had a lady from Indiana put a deposit on her. After 3 weeks I pulled Josie out to get a health certificate on her, and she was limping on the front left. I called the lady and told her it was her option if she wanted her deposit back, but that the vet and farrier both looked at it and said it was just an abscess. A week later shes fine, and some kids came out to the farm and wanted to ride, and rode Josie. That was the 1st time she had been ridden in over 6 months. Beginning of July. Then we did the video and pictures yesterday, July 27th, exactly as she is now. shes easy to catch, has great BAREFOOTED feet, just thought the need to 'explain' as to what the 'deal' is here. There 'is' no deal. Just so many people assume somethings terribly wrong when theyre not sold in the first week. Josie is a seasoned trail broke mule with NO BUCK, NO REAR, NO VICES and is dirt cheap. Loads/clips/bathes/catches what more can you ask for? Just a little stubbornness is unfortunately natural in most mules. At least she doesnt push the issue. Why is she not back at lindseys for sale and here? Because Josie does NOT show well pulled out of the pasture and ridden by herself(which is how people tend to want to see them whne they come look at one) and Lindsey doesnt have time to work with that. The video ride below is exactly that, pulled out, saddled, and ridden by herself.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------14.1 and 1/2 hands (on a stick) stout made bay paint molly, 10yo (via vets mouthing); Josie has only been used on trails and does great; I've ridden her myself (Lindsey speaking) on a 3 day ride- water, bridges, mud, her ears flop the whole time. she will lead or follow and doesnt mind being left by the other horses or mules; Really cute personality; Josie loves attention too, catches you in the pasture. Nothing seemed to bother her at all on trails. She picket lines overnight and is great for camping and trail riding; loads well on a trailer and will back off, she's very very safe and solid to ride anywhere. no spook or buck at all. She has a nice slow lope; traffic safe and will go anywhere you ask of her on the trails(even of it's not a trail)No meanness to her, she's very sweet and people oriented and has been ridden all over! She is great to pony off (she's been used to pony a small child on a tiny mule) see her pics! has a neat white roaning square on the left side of her neck! also works off leg pressure and neck reins, rides in a low port curb bit, crupper and saddle bags. Josie is a really fun little mule that anyone should enjoy for years to come. She also saw tents and hikers which didn't phase her a bit riding.
